Wan-Chen Chan
Wan-Chen Chan is a mixed-media artist who is based in Taiwan, currently living in the UK. In her mind, the different architectural styles and urban cultures between East and West have collided. In roaming the cities, through her own observations, the artist reorganises the elements of architecture or urban landscape through her own language, filtering them into her imagined scenes or responding to her own memories. Most of the time, it is intuitive or accidental.
Her creative materials combine found-objects or industrial materials. When the material loses its original function, it is reorganised and re-read by the artist to generate a new narrative and meaning.
Through the works, the artist evokes the viewers’ own experiences and memories, to enter their own imagined landscape.
